The B-Side of Dance Music

There are two ways to listen to music. You can play the big hits, the well-known names, the tracks everyone knows. Or you flip the record. That is where it gets interesting. On the B side you find the special tracks – bold, experimental, different, deep. The ones that maybe were never meant to be hits but stay with you exactly because of that. And that is what B-Side Stories stands for.

Dance music lives through the people who dig deep into the groove, who start their own labels, tinker with old drum machines and shape sounds that are not made for the main stage. But who tells their stories? Who shows what happens beyond the trends?

B-Side Stories takes music lovers, insiders and everyone interested on a journey through the history of dance music. We talk to artists who follow their own paths, highlight the developments changing club culture and ask: Where does underground begin and where does it end? Is it a sound a feeling a moment? Or exactly that which can never be captured?

Each issue of our five sections features portraits stories and music recommendations that offer new perspectives on house techno and disco. And because music is best explained by those who play produce or feel it with every fiber B-Side Stories regularly presents curated playlists by our showcase guests with tracks expressing their world.

Dance music is multifaceted. B-Side Stories flips the record and reveals what there is to discover on the other side the grooves the soul the voices.
